2009 dubai motor show shelby supercars SSC Ultimate Aero on display in DubaiShelby SuperCars launched its record breaking 2010 Ultimate Aero during the 2009 Dubai Motor Show.

The Guinness Book of Records-certified fastest production car in the world makes the dash to 100kph in a spine shattering 2.78 seconds, just 0.08 faster than the Bugatti Veyron.

So what makes it the fastest car on paper? It’s the mind boggling top speed of 439kph. For those not in the loop, that’s an impressive 32kph more than the Bugatti.

Janus Khan, a representative of Shelby SuperCars, explained, “Apart from the figures, what separates the Aero from the jetfighter-esque Veyron is the lack of computer intervention. The Aero is a true driver’s car, held on the road by competent chassis design and excellent aerodynamics.”

Bodywork wrapping the mid-mounted 1287hp, twin-turbo V8-powered monster is reminiscent of the Ferrari F50, albeit with a slightly lower stance. To complete the record-breaking powertrain, a six-speed manual shifter plants the 1,508Nm of torque produced by the 7.0-litre V8 to the rear wheels for some rubber burning action at the 7,200rpm redline.

Prices start at 2.7million AED, with added extras like the world’s first one-piece carbon fibre rims to bump up the final bill.
